According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, ROH World Champion Rush’s current contract with the company is set to expire at the end of 2019.
The 31 year old Mexican star is known for his unorthodox style, and is currently enjoying his first reign with the ROH World Championship after capturing it just a few short weeks ago. The aforementioned report goes on to suggest that there is a good chance both WWE and AEW are going to be interested in signing him, which should come as a surprise to nobody.
Both promotions are looking to bolster their rosters as we look ahead to the future of this Wednesday Night War, with WWE, in particular, wanting to keep the flood of new NXT stars going – if that is where he’d end up.
Matt Taven had a solid run with the belt, probably better than anyone could’ve anticipated, but a lot of fans are interested to see whether or not Rush can do something great with the belt.
When it comes to his future within the promotion, though, it’s quite clear to see that Ring of Honor will want to do everything within their power to try and get him to remain with the company – and so they should. However, when the likes of WWE and AEW come calling, it’s going to be hard for him to say no.
With just a few months remaining until we reach 2020, it seems as if this story is going to escalate sooner rather than later – on both ends.
